We want to thank our residents who live in a carted community for their patience as MMWA rolled out 80,000 trash and recycling carts to 23 member communities! There have been a lot of behind-the-scenes activities that have continued at the MMWA office after deployment was completed. MMWA had to make sure that all 40,000 plus residents in all 23 member communities received carts, swapped carts for smaller sizes, and recovered carts that were delivered incorrectly. In a nutshell MMWA calls this process reconciliation. Now that reconciliation is complete, we are heading towards the next phase which is ensuring residents in a carted community are using their carts. Beginning Monday, October 30, 2023, residents should be using MMWA carts ONLY for trash and recycling. While residents can occasionally have a minimal number of bags, 1-2, outside of their carts if you are consistently using your personal cans and bags in addition to your cart click here to purchase an additional cart: https://www.recyclemotion.org/carts. Remember, each resident is allowed up to two bulk items per week. A bulk item is anything that will not fit inside your trash cart. Bulk items should be placed at the curb three feet away from your trash cart, no later than 7:00 am on our regular service day. MMWA does not schedule bulk pick-up in advance. If the truck is full, or the driver is not able to collect the item by himself, the driver should place an orange hanger on your trash cart marking the box that reads item pick up scheduled do NOT remove from the curb. The bulk truck runs 1-2 business days behind the regular trash truck. If you do not see an orange hanger call MMWA within one business day. Each resident has a one-day window. Should you need an additional cart you can purchase one by calling MMWA at (989) 781-9555 or by filling out the form online at https://www.recyclemotion.org/carts .
